things i do with my time

hellboundwitch:

I’m shuffling through my Fairy Lights Tarot and comparing cards while singing Party Lights by Claudine Clark. Only I’m changing the words to match the cards.

“I see the lights! I see the fairy lights~”

I am so getting the Fairy Lights Tarot. I’m impatient but next week, it will be mine.

That whole eating thing even when you’re not hungry. That’s me. I know those feels.

It’s a right bitch as I usually go like trance deep when I’m working on something, doesn’t particularly matter what, and I resent any sort of unplanned interruption BUT since diabetes bit me in the butt I don’t have a choice. I have to eat on a semi-regulated schedule.

Ugh. Diabetes is huge in my family so I’m hyper cautious of it. I totally get the whole “I’m not going to stop my work just for some food!” but you do what you have to do right?

Kindness and Compassion: Spirit Keeping: What is it? → changingpelts.tumblr.com

corsen:

changingpelts:

So, I made a post about opening a shop for spirit keeping, and I’ve had several people say they’ve never heard of it, so maybe I should make a bit of an intro post.

Spirit keeping is exactly what it sounds like. There are spirits that like being attached to a person, helping them with life,…

I’m concerned by this because as far as I’ve been able to tell, the term “spirit keeping” originated with that ring of eBay scammers. I’m worried that’s where people are getting their information on spirit work from.

As nice as it is to think that there are wholly benevolent spirits that wouldn’t mind being treated like pets, that really doesn’t match up with any that I’ve personally met. For me, any spirit offering to do me a favor would be viewed with the same level of suspicion as a stranger in a van handing out candy.

This.^

Just because a spirit acts benevolent doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a mean streak. Just because a spirit acts beneficial doesn’t mean it doesn’t have plans and agendas. Just because a spirits helping doesn’t mean it isn’t using you for its own means.

I’m not refuting that some spirits do seem to prefer to be catered to, as if a pet, but I personally start questioning. Why are they satisified with that? Why do they seem content to possibly take orders from humans? What would they be privy to in their new position? How will they use it against you or others? Are they selling your secrets? Or are they collecting information? Are they playing a long con?

Rather than keep spirits, it’s easier to create a thoughtform or egregore than to trust an another being from who-knows-where. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking spirit keeping or spirit working - I do both in my own way but I expect the spirits to try to wiggle away, to steal secrets and information, to try their mischief and plans. I’m much less disappointed or hurt when they do finally turn.

Everything that could go wrong last night did. Twice.

And now I’m hearing a woman whispering*. Long after I paused the music.

I think that mean it’s time to go to sleep.

*I could be hallucinating from exhaustion. But I really don’t think so.

I am just REALLY TORN between the Art Nouveau Oracle and the Dreaming Way Tarot. (I mean, I’m going to pick up whichever deck I don’t get probably next week but the choice of right now is so hard.)

I read and collect all different styles so that’s not an issue. And I vary art styles because different styles give me different feels.

Opinions?

Jasie would approach this in a practical, Capricornian way

Like, first thought: “Well if someone else is buying it I should let them get the more expensive one.” (and since they’re only a few dollars difference I wouldn’t even feel bad like I might normally XDD — I mean, I’d still do it, but I’d feel a little bad.)

*whispers* We share the same feels here. I don’t think I’d feel particularly bad about it either. We can be bad people together.

GIN

did you know that it’s Pollinator Week? According to Burt’s Bees, at least.

I THINK THAT MEANS WE EAT ALL THE HONEY. WITH EVERYTHING.

Mum’s gifting me a Tarot/oracle deck because reasons. So now, here’s the question:

WHICH ONE DO I CHOSE?

AAAAAH THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTION

OKAY

Tarot decks I am digging right now (with commentary!):

  • MORGAN-GREER TAROT: this is my darling. It’s perfect for smaller hands and it’s BORDERLESS. The art style is definitely dated but I LOVE THAT. I will say that this deck seems to take a particular delight in telling me the WORST POSSIBLE THING THAT COULD HAPPEN…idk if that’s just my deck or if lots of people have Morgan-Greers that like to be as negative as possible….XD but that makes the happier messages all the more meaningful!
  • FAIRY LIGHTS TAROT FOREVER. I love this deck, but I will say it’s definitely not a Waite-Colman Smith variant. So if you read really strict to that style or something, it might not be the best for you. BUT IT’S BEAUTIFUL AND KIND OF HAUNTING IN A WAY AND IT JUST…*____* It reads beautifully for me too.
  • More modern than the Morgan-Greer and (a bit…) more standard than the Fairy Lights? THE DREAMING WAY TAROT. (This deck also has a really interesting Little White Book…)

FOR ME this is a really…character-driven deck, I guess! It’s good for reading about PEOPLE and what they do and why and how and what happens. (If anyone reading this is like “Aren’t all readings about people?” USUALLY BUT NO it’s complicated)

They’re all charming, and the last two have very other-worldly feels to them, but in different ways. The Dreaming Way is just a little off, like walking around in a mirror world or something XDD The Fairy Lights is like falling through the rabbit hole.

(Normally I would probably just be all ‘EY YO GET THE WILD UNKNOWN TAROT but it is sold out right now ;o;!)

OKAY BUT IF WE’RE TALKING ORACLES?

  • I’m getting into the Lenormand and the one I own is the Art Nouveau Oracle. Even as a beginner who feels HOPELESS, it’s been reading pretty well for me! Like, even though I’m just starting to do actual readings with it (and they’re only simple two card combinations) I’m getting some of the freakish accuracy that the Lenormand is known for. (Ignore the LWB completely though) IT CAN BE A BIT OF A STRUGGLE TO GATHER LENORMAND RESOURCES THOUGH…like my own list is still too much of a mess to even share XDD
  • ALSO SHOUTOUT TO MY SOULCARDS MY BABIES. There’s Soulcards 1 and Soulcards 2 and HONESTLY SPEAKING I prefer Soulcards 2.

You can view the gallery here and see if you prefer one over the other :D I ordered both at the same time but got Soulcards 2 first, which may be why I like them better? XD  BUT AT ANY RATE. Unlike Lenormand, for example, Soulcards aren’t really part of a system. They don’t have meanings or keywords. You read them intuitively (a lot of people don’t use them for divination at all, but rather, for self-reflection or even healing. I use it for a lot of stuff XDD) and I JUST THINK THEY’RE GREAT.
  • The Enchanted Map Oracle! I HAD TO PUT A HAY HOUSE DECK ON HERE. XD And I was kind of skeptical about these decks but I’ve been really surprised at the level of depth they’ve given me. This one in particular! I talked a bit about it here, where I compared it to the Wisdom of the Hidden Realms Oracle (made by the same author). I do think they work beautifully together, but if I had to pick ONE I’d pick the Enchanted Map. It’s the most ~Oracley~ choice (idk if that makes sense outside

but if you’re wanting to go in a different direction I can come up with new recs XD

THESE ARE ALL ON MY SHORTLIST (except the Soulcards but they’ve been added to my tarot wishlist)

I’m super not strict. ALL the divination methods! So all of these are totes valid. I don’t own a Lenormand yet but I’m staring at all of these with want.

And all this lookin’ got me thinking, wasn’t it the Deviant Moon deck that was going to release a borderless version or am I mistaken?
